Some years later, we saw days celebrated with great aplomb, and cards, flowers, sweets and flowers distributed. Talk about the number of days in the year, and you have equal number of nominated days. The question that always hankers the mind is how did this all begin? The age of commercialization had arrived with a lot of publicity for celebration on these days. Is it necessary, and is this required are questions that may throw up answers depending on the genre and the context.
My grey matter tells me that there is nothing wrong as long as these convey a meaning and purpose to all of us. I would not like to be drawn into a debate on this issue and I am no one to play God. But the thing that I saw in the newspaper the other day was probably the cherry on the ice cream.
So much for commercialization sweeping the world today.

Happy World Toilet Day!
I hope you got the card I sent to you in celebration of this momentous occasion!
Well, that does take the prize for a "unique" holiday???? I feel the same way you do about the number of holidays that fill up the calendar. I certainly want to honor parents, flags, countries, yearly holidays etc etc etc, but have we gotten to the point where we need to be reminded to appreciate, to love, to honor, to celebrate???? But World Toilet Day is definitely one I hadn't considered before, guess I'd better start looking for a card!!!
Hope you're continuing to heal!
Sylvia

greeting card companies are behind the V-Day, Friendship Day, etc craze bigtime...

Thanks Hitch Writer
These days are like reminders to our conscience, poking us to remember to attend to important issues like Friends, Parents and Siblings. In this context, and remebering the terrible toilet manners of most Indians, World Toilet Day seems a most significant reminder.
Interesting Point Sir!
Am sure the day is not far we shall start gifting 'Tissue Rolls' on this Day! ;-)
Pls take care of your health!
I agree with your point of view, Sucharita. You have expressed in a different light. Thanks.
Thanks Kg for your comments and good wishes. Thanks for visiting my blog.
How is your health now? Take care of your health.
I was not aware of the World Toilet Day till I read your post. Its a very good remembrance for everybody to celebrate specially in India as the toilets remains untidy all the time.
Thanks Babli for your comments. Sucharita also had a similar view.
So,if i wish someone 'happy world toilet day' what does it do to the person ?
And what am i really wishing him or her to get ?
These thoughts engage my mind sir. Somebody must have gotten an excellent rating in their appraisal for coming up with this. And pretty quickly too.
And ofcourse, there are certain eternal truths. Like Loose motion is the only motion that cant be done in slow motion...
And so, i dont know what to wish you. But am happy that toilets are getting cleaned the world over.
Kavi, you come up with such questions that puzzle me. I only hope the toilets don't cleaned only on this day
